HoHum

I joined the gym and start with a trainer tomorrow morning.
I've signed a contract and am planning a 4x week gym workout and 1 day at home.
Come on will power, hello where are you?
I'm happy, I'm scared, I'm sad.
Goodbye body I'm gonna miss some of you.
I'll probably be so sore this weekend I won't want to move but I will.
My trainer is my customer also so I can't be mean to him.
I think I'm gonna want to be very mean soon.
Oh well certain people say I always am so I have a head start.
I have to sew 8 "candy cane" skirts this weekend for next weekend.
The 4-H club has a float in a Christmas parade on the 7th of Dec.
The girls on board are going to be Can(e) Can(e) dancers.
Play on words, get it?
Oh well somehow I was "volunteered" to sew skirts.
I'll try to take pictures.
I put a 24" separating zipper in S's coat he won a zillion yrs go at our roping series.
I didn't take a picture and you wouldnt have wanted to see my frustration.
That was not fun at all.
The coat was not a 22 or a 24" so I bought the larger and folded it over at the top.
It looks good but was a bear to complete.
Oh well time to knit and relax for tomorrow
I DIE...

MVP

Guess there's no need for using her initials this post.
LOL
After a disappointing season "LN"
was given the MVP award.
I am a proud Mama.
She works hard.

She is girl in the center wearing green shirt although it's hard to see.
The picture is shrink wrapped onto a hollow ball.
Cool idea. Different than standard awards.

I signed up at a gym to work with a trainer.
I hope he can force me to be accountable and firm this old body up.
Maybe lower my starting to climb a bit blood pressure as well.
I  have no illusions of bathing suits but any tighter skin areas would be welcomed.
Any progress will make me happy.

Black Friday

I'm not crazy enough to go Black Friday shopping but...
I did go online shopping and made a few purchases for Saint Nick just to lighten his load.

I feel a tiny bit better that I scored a few items I was asked for.
Free Shipping is my bargain today.

Someone I know does 15 plus stores beginning Thanksgiving evening.
Most of the times what her and her gang buy breaks or is destroyed in 6 months.
Where's the value in that?

Dark Grey Thursday

It's not Black Friday yet but it is Dark Grey Thursday.
I onlined shopped and bought myself a Christmas present.
A Canon Rebel camera package.
If the promo was correct it was $250.00 off regular price.
It was the most expensive present I have ever bought myself.
Fingers crossed I'll love it.

Happy Turkey Day Y'all

Stuffed turkey in the oven.

Rest will be started soon.

Eating around 5:30.

Desserts made.

Enough said.

Enjoy your day!

OMG a Surprise

Wow what a day.
1st thing I picked up R from garage where her car , Blueberry was having oil change.
Then off to Blood Bank to donate Pheresis.
I do it about every month or 6 wks. It's nice to give back and
I get to watch a movie with no interruptions.
Today I bruised worse than normal. When they removed the 1st needle all the returning blood flooded the return arm and popped the vein returning into my surrounding tissue.
Hence 2 huge lumps under my skin and advice to ice today frequently.
Oh well I'll be back in a few weeks to repeat the process (without the bruises I hope).

The OMG title referred to LN's surprise visit from a professional soccer player today.
Jack McInerney , a striker from Philadelphia Union Soccer team stopped by to say Hi!
How cool is that?
One of our neighbors/customers from next rd over has a daughter my older 2 went to school with.
Katie is dating Jack after friending him on FB and him accepting.
How cool is that too?
Anyhow they were home for Thanksgiving dinner a day early and stopped by.
Jack gave LN a signed team picture and visited with her awhile.
LN was a happy camper for sure.
I didn't  take a picture of them because LN said not to.

Personal autograph helped " sweeten the pie" so to speak.
Jack is 3rd from left , top row.
LN & Jack are both shy around strangers but Jack had her beat there.
He was very nice to take his family time to make a 13 yr old happy.

Otherwise today I supervised R baking our desserts for tomorrow.
She made a few things.
Seems she doesn't read recipes all the way through so her ...
1 pie became 2 because the recipe was doubled. Ahhh youth!

I'm sure they will be ate though. R offered to take one to her work Friday.
She's an assistant manager at a Rehoboth Beach outlet children's store so they will need food to make it through Black Friday and the weekend.

She also made a pumpkin roll.

I can not wait to slice into this.

I also made a dump cake with pineapple (my sil's favorite food) and cherries.
Instead of a boxed cake mix it calls for I made a homemade mix so I want to see how it turned out.

It 'll be a sweet Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone has a Happy Turkey Day and remembers to be Thankful!

So Long

It was such a long day.
So llooonnnnggggg of a day!
Last tournament of fall travel soccer.
They finished 2nd of 4 teams.
It was a good day.
1st is great but lets discuss this.
Union (LN's team) is a division 7 of 10 divisions with 1 being hardest.
Today 1st they played a division 5, Union won 2-0.
2nd they played a division 4 team and tied 0-0.
Last they played a division 2 team and tied 0-0.
Not toooo shabby.
Look at the scores again please.
All 0's on LN's defensive side.
That's her counterpart above, they hold the back line together.
They are beasts together and have their own sign language because they cant talk w mouthguards in.
Long tiring day with wind and cold temps but successiful day.
I'm learning to go with out winning every time but it's hard, I am competitive.
My heart races and I feel each move in my bones.
LN said I needed to chill this season and I have, she said so :)
Yea me!  I am trying to keep it in (although I still like winning best).

Finished and Started

I finished my lonnggggg Winter/Christmas scarf.
TaDa
My Sausage Roll...

I like it , it's a little long....

8'6" to be exact. Lots of snuggling warmth.
I wore it just watching TV and reading already because I love it.

I started
AGAIN
the open work patterned scarf I hoped to give R foe Christmas
UGGGGHHHH
I'm only 7 in into it and have found mistakes again.
I'm not frogging it because I CAN"T.
I can NOT tell where to put stitches back on needle with all the twists and turns.
I'm gonna keep knitting.
See how it goes before I rip again for 4th time.
You think I'd learn. I guess I don't completely slip stitch off needle or I slip two off.
IDK as they say.
Perseverance I gots to have Confusion says!

Anyhoooo  I found socks I like.
Made in the USA as well of  high percentage wool blends.
I'm in love.
Target is the store. They are $8.00 a pair.
IDK again
They won't wear out for years and I'm not ready to try knitting socks.

I have 6 pairs I bought 5 yrs ago at Sam's Club that are wool too.
Going strong with no signs of wearing out.
I'm splurging on myself.
I bought 1 pair to try and my feet are sweating on this 44* day so it's a go.
Now to find time to get back to store before they discontinue them.
When I down loaded my pics of knitting guess who had jacked it and filled it up?
I found 20 plus pictures LN & a friend had snapped at 4-H event.
Good thing she's cute!

Oh Joy?

Oh Joy I think.
I 've been told a few times lately by different people that it's a great thing to wake up
every morning and to read obituaries and not see your own name.
So.... Oh Joy what a nice day!
Monday LN had off for Veterans Day.
She was therefore not impressed to have to get up for early othodontist appt.
I guess I "forgot" about holiday when I scheduled it.
When we returned home she left to go shopping for field hockey coaches gifts with a team mate.
A few minutes later I heard "come outside and give me your opinion".
This is what I saw...

then I saw this...
S had taken down the sheep fence (woven wire) without mentioning it.
All the way to the garden gate down the sheep alley.
To the left is horse country and to the left is sheep alley.
So guess what I did on a 60* day? At least it was 60*.

Oh Joy!

I held chain to pull all the wooden posts with John Deere's help
because of course they didn't line up with
cattle panels we're installing.

I dug holes with clamdiggers and another type of digger and I tamped each post.

Goose is camoflaughed well while he guards me.
Hahaha I made a joke. Big, Bad Pitbull.

I carried alot of cattle panels. See red gate way down there, squint real hard.?
Then it rained and we stopped, put up temporary fence and will finish another day.
No pictures to show lack of progress but I will update at a future date.

Oh Joy !

Today it rained as well so S finally did this...

Installed the drawer a friend gave me under the front loading washer.
They are several hundreds of buckaroos for the drawers in the stores and this was  FREEEEE.
Friend was tossing his set of washer/dryer and volunteered drawer.
YEA!!!!
It'll save my back leaning over even at 5'2".
Maybe it'll help stop all the stuff being set on top so it vibrates off each time washer spins too.
It looks different colored than washer but actually matches the control panel and detergent drawer.
Wierd I know , I guess different metal or plastic washes.

Everything had to be unhooked and the beast laid on it's side to attach the drawer housing.
Oh Joy!
While re-hooking up everything the hot water flange on washer stripped.
S fixed that with his trusty knife but then....
the basement hookup leaked at the hot water line.

Oh Joy!

It always happens when I ask for something that seems simple.
S turned off hot water which I rarely use and will rig a fix eventually he says.
But for now I like another drawer to fill with stuff .
Hopefully it will keep stuff out of sight.

And...
No!!!! My floor is not yellow but cream colored, stupid camera.

Santa? I was wondering....?

Ashamed

I am ashamed and embarrassed that my vote was thrown out.

I am so ashamed to be from a country that condones this.

Popular vote counts for nothing.

4 more years of hell.

Enough said.

Moody Monday

Grrrr... I'm moody and grouchy today.
Weekend was soccer, soccer and a lil soccer with a Friday night field hockey game..
LN's travel team is now 3rd in her division so playoffs we go.
Her team will play #2 seed this Saturday and if they win play championship Sunday.
I'm not happy or sad just ready to be done with this season.
I've posted previously how unhappy I am with the coach so a timeout is needed.
We paid for fall and winter season already so I have to bite my tongue and
IT HURTS to do that.
Anyhooo I also helped at school talent show Thursday night so I needed to have supper ready
early so LN & I could get to school after I picked her up from Field Hockey practice,
race home so she could change and scarf food down.
Yes I said " Scarf".
LN is bottomless pit so major supplies are laid in regularly as fill ups.
So what did I make?
Do you know what all this has in common?
Yes MamaPea except for the cloves laying on the brown sugar, it is all BAD for you!
But once in awhile you just have to suck it up and do it.
It's a Soda Ham.
My MIL had recipe from the 50's.
She has tons of processed food recipes from that era. It seems every new prepared food
had suggestions as to how to make a quick meal.
This is a "treat" my husband loves.
You mix ground cloves with brown sugar and a lil bit of RC cola.
I subbed Coke because he couldn't find RC if it's even still made?
Make a slurry, the thicker the better. I always add too much cola so it thins out.
It still works. I put the disgusting ( I don't touch it, it grosses me out since we have a actual ham in freezer from our own hogs) ham in the crockpot and ...

dump the slurry on it and heat it up. I don't have a finished picture but it absorbs the sugar and spice and gets a beautiful golden brown color with a rich flavor.

I also made baked mac and cheese which is always a favorite.
LN ate 3 or 4 servings before she stopped.
Oh to have metabolism and be young and not care about the nutritional aspect.
Since she would be leaving Friday nights field hockey game to head straight to soccer practice
I heated up chicken and rice soup I had leftover from the Sandy storm
cooking frenzy and put it in a thermos for her.
It was in high 40's at the game and she was so happy to see the thermos.
I should do that more often for sure.
Much better for her and better on my wallet too than a convenience store wrap.
I try to remember to pack something as she is always hungry after a game.
My mind is like a steel trap though. Some things go in but never come back out.
This makes remembering things a lil bit difficult you see.
Today is her last field hockey game .
She is the wrestling manager for winter and it starts next week so
she only has a few days off.
School is weird this week for her.
School Mon., closed Tues., School Wed., 1/2 days Thurs and Fri. for parent conferences.
I tried to get her a dentist appt a different day but Wed is only opening at 10:00am.
She is an A student so missing rest of Wed. and even Thurs. if pain is bad should not matter.
Dentist is pulling last baby tooth so orthodontist can continue with her brace plan.
She is putting brackets on to move LN's lower jaw out a little to line up with her upper jaw better.
I went back and forth about this. She doesn't have bad teeth , just a little bit of crookedness.
The main reason for braces was to fix jaw placement so she doesn't have possible problems later in life with eating and pain like TMJ and need to have it broken to be repaired.
Expensive "what if" but I didn't want to take the chance and also felt her self esteem would get a boost as well if she feels better about her looks.
Not vain, just normal feeling.
Ok I've ran off enough so I'll leave you with this picture of a cute spatula LN received as a gift.
She's not sure she wants to use it in case it gets "messed" up.
Sign of a hoarder in the making huh?
