Make it loose ...

They say...

So I cast on over two dpn's as suggested.

It seems loose which will still fit one of us. Two of us have above average sized calfs. I also think after washing they will tighten up a bit.

Time to conquer the other one .  I've cast on the same so these will match size wise.

I enjoy knitting but do not have much free time. Thusly this took forever. Those who say socks are quick knots haven't met me.

Overall for the first time knitting socks and using dpn's I'm pleased. Next pair I'll probably cast on using one needle though.

  2. What Leigh said! That's amazing for your first pair! My first pair were ghastly. I've taken to knitting socks on two circular needles because I couldn't coordinate more than two - great colors, too!

  3. Arrrgh, I think I steered you wrong when I told you to cast on using two needles held together! I'm so sorry! I've found this absolutely necessary so I can get my widdle foot into the sock! So happens I have on a pair at this very moment that was one of the first pair I knitted and cast on with a single needle. I can tell you the circulation in the middle of my calf is being cut off because the top of the ribbing is so tight. But I am so sorry I led you astray on this. You may now need leg suspenders (what is the correct name for those things?) to hold your socks up. What size needles did you use?

But bottom line, that first sock is absolutely lovely. Couldn't have come out better, heel and all. You should be very proud of yourself, Ms. Lisa!

    1. It's all good MamaPea like I said we have a wide variety of calves between us in my family. I also think a warm run thru the laundry may help too. If nothing else they will be a nice momento of the first attempt.
