Broiled Flowers and summer food...

The pictures seem wonky but it is what it is.
They are my iphone pictures.
The flowers are yellow in the middle of this bed but I see orange here.
Strange...
My flowers are filling in despite the 90+ temps.

I'll take what joy I can get.

The cherry tomato was an experiment but seems to be doing well as long as I fill the
2 liter bottle with water each day.
There are tomatoes almost turning ripe.
This is the best these containers have looked EVER.

I took out a zebra striped grass that took over this bed.
Again I am experimenting here.
This is the east side of my house so shaded after 11 am.
Will the blanket flowers and wave petunias survive and thrive?
Stay tuned...

Shrimp and pasta in a butter, parmesan cheese and a splash of heavy cream sauce
and sweet corn from the "not good enough for the public"
waste trailer.
Two commercial farms here dump all not perfect by size and shape ears.
Anyone can come and fill up a trailer or truck with the "waste" to feed livestock.
It saves the farmer having to dispose of it.
We have harvested it for our table and freezer before the cows get what is left.
I will be freezing it all summer.
They also have cabbages and green beans waste.
Such a shame that consumers don't know or care how food is grown.
Why does the ears of corn need to be perfect in size to buy?
If the media would stop lying about farmers using unnecessary pesticides and fertilizers and or the public would use common sense I wouldn't be blessed with so much free food.
Thank you John Q public for your ignorance!
My neighbors refuse our offer of corn because I can't prove it is
NON GMO, organic, free range, gluten free, etc etc etc.
Do you even know what those terms mean?
If all that is so necessary why are people that insist on all that not perfectly healthy 365?
It seems they get sick from their "healthy" lifestyle way more than my family ever does.
{I was told by my pediatrician they were going to drop my kids from their practice because we only did sports physicals once a year instead of sick calls multiple times like "other" families.}
I asked the neighbors if a corn field is organic and a bird flys over it after being in a non organic field and craps on it....
Do you really think the field is still organic?
Do you really think farmers spray poison for no reason?
Do you think they have money to burn on unnecessary chemicals?
Educate yourself by talking to farmers and companies they utilize to help them be more productive.
Do not believe the media.
Use common sense .

Rant over for today.

This kid...

is a hoot and a half.

She makes the monotony of an adult's life seem more bearable.

Today we took my Mom-n-law to get her perm.
Miss A does not nap as a rule anymore.
She was up at 6:45 am raring to go.
It was 10:00 am when we left home but this kid fell asleep and slept for an hour while her
Grandma read a book in the Lowe's parking lot with the diesel running and AC cranked.
It was 90 with high humidity.
Afterwards we ate lunch and cruised through Lowe's till it was time to pick Mom-n-law up.
She's a blast and keeps me going.
Today alone in a few hours....
She helped me water my flowers, pick blueberries, help customers at the feed store, feed animals, weigh lambs, vacuum, wash dishes, etc etc etc.
Oh to be able to bottle her energy.

Dog Days have arrived...

with 95% humidity on average for the peninsula.
{I am dog sitting this week again for this munchin.}
Yeah Delmarva we need the mold, mildew and nastiness!
Life has to continue though.

Animals need fed but seriously the boys need grain not cat food.
Alice is my barn chore cat.
She is always there to supervise me.
The ram seems to love her and grooms her.

Since I was already drenched in sweat Saturday evening I decided to clear the last 50 ft of
blackberry canes off the electric road fence.
I have the scars to prove it on my arms and legs.

A bit of cutting and dragging canes out then push mowing the rest of weeds down.
Def looks better now to keep up with it.
Blackberries taste good some years but are never fun to be around.
I am done with them and have a few more spots to clear.
I have frozen the ripe ones but only have a few cups worth.

The wave petunia looks good now but the heat will be too much for this pot.
I can not water enough to keep it going in july and august.
I did ground plant some so hopefully they will be better this summer.

Tonight a faded rainbow showed through after a weak rain shower came through.
I must say we have had a ton of rainbows this last month or so.
No wonder since rain has shown up almost daily.
