I listen to music in my truck and at home especially when I'm alone. The drone and sheer stupidity of modern TV annoy me. I do not give a rats behind what some family with big butts but no substance are doing.
But music ..... that I like.
All kinds of music interest me but I keep oldies (50's-90's) on mostly. 90's are considered oldies now.
Too funny...
Music usually involves a memory of something I was doing when I 1st heard a song.
Just a smile and memory....
Oh my! My life is remembered through songs. Music has been my one constant in life. I was in a couple of bands in high school in the late 60's as a trumpet player and lead singer and then started playing guitar. I still play and sing but not as much publicly as I use to. Oldies are actually considered mid 50's to mid 70's as far as "pop" or "modern" music is concerned. The Platters, Bill Halley and the Comets, Chuck Berry, Gene Pitney on through to The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Eagles, and tons more! I could just keep naming singers or groups! I guess what I am trying to get across is, each year of my life, from a very early age, I remember and associate where I was and what I was doing from the music that I was listening to and loved at that time. The music didn't always bring smiles though. It could also bring sadness from loves lost, friendships forgotten, a life or love that could have been. To me, music expresses life and all of the good and bad it can bring. Yes, I'm a very big music fan too. Nice post Lisa. Nostalgia time...:)
ReplyDeleteMy kids call 90's oldies Spiderjohn. I love it all. The 50's and 60's are my favorites though. My mom loved Chuck Barry played him continuous on the record player.
DeleteHa, had to laugh at your comment about the 90's. My kids love to listen to the 80's, as well as myself.
ReplyDeleteMy kids love 80's as well as myself. I'm a fan of all decades.
